Bill Belichick Opens Up On Decision To Start Brian Hoyer Against Chiefs

The New England Patriots went up against the Kansas City Chiefs last night in a game that resulted in a devastating defeat for the Patriots.

Following the game, head coach Bill Belichick didn’t seem too concerned about his starting quarterback testing positive for COVID-19. He briefly stated:

“I think we’ve done everything right and what we’re supposed to do. So, it’s in the hands of medical people here.”

About the defeat, he explained:

“It was a disappointing night. We had some opportunities, we just weren’t able to take advantage of them. You can’t give a good football team those kind of opportunities. We competed hard we just didn’t make enough plays. We turned the ball over four times and had too many penalties. We just didn’t play good enough.”

Since Newton was unable to play in the game last night, the Patriots decided to start Brian Hoyer. After several bad throws, the team put in Jarrett Stidham who played way better than Hoyer. When talking about this, Belichick said:

“I don’t know, not a lot. (We) just try to play better. We were down by three points and missed some opportunities in the first half. So, we were just trying to find ways to keep playing well. It was a three-point game.”

Stidham also had a couple of intreceptions, giving the Patriots four turnovers for the game to the Chiefs’ one. About this, Belichick said:

“We’ve just got to do a better job of coaching and playing and taking advantage of our opportunities. We missed some in all three phases of the game. We’ll keep working to improve those and getting better.”

Newton should be able to return to the field in no-time. We hope that when he returns, the Patriots can continue their winning streak and compete at a far better level than they did last night!
