Watch: Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes Praises Patriots QB Before Most People Had Heard Of Either Of Them

Patrick Mahomes and Cam Newton are two of the best quarterbacks the league has seen in a while. This weekend, they will go head to head when the Chiefs and the Patriots meet on the field.

Over the years, Newton has been very supportive of Mahomes, praising him on his amazing skills on the football court. When talking about him recently, he even said this:

“Man, he’s changing the game. I think he’s shining light on the new wave of quarterbacks. It’s just fun to watch. He has a lot of merit to what he does. It’s not like he’s just back there and it’s just an arcade game. Sometimes it looks like it, but he knows exactly what he’s doing and how he’s manipulating the defense. That’s the same thing that the Dan Marinos used to do. Obviously the Tom Bradys. The Aaron Rodgers. Those guys really have so much command of the offense that you dictate to the defense. That’s what he’s doing. He’s playing the game at a high level.”

On the other hand, Mahomes has said this about Newton:

“I wish I could do some of the things he does. As far as how physical he is and the way he’s able to make plays happen. He’s a great football player.”

During an earlier interview, he explained:

“He went to Blinn College which is down there kind of close to East Texas (where Mahomes) and so he played against TJC. I used to see his highlights then when I was back in high school in those days. He’s a great football player and he’s in a great spot now. He’s playing really good football. So you understand it’s going to be great challenge to go up against this team knowing that they’re going to be able to really move the football.”

Newton was appreciative about the nice words, adding:

“We all have our own platforms and I play this game for multiple reasons. A lot of those reasons kinda come off the backs of somebody empowering me. It’s pretty neat to hear that but at the end of the day we all have a responsibility to empower others, to motivate others, and to impact others. And through it all we just all have to use our influence in a positive way.”
