Even though NFL players have been unable to have normal offseason workouts, they have still found some ways to stay in shape and prepare for the upcoming season.
When it comes to New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who recently worked out with former NFL defensive back Dre Bly, he seems more than ready to return to the field. Check it out:
At the moment, Gilmore is more or less the face of the Patriots following quarterback Tom Brady’s departure in free agency. This is deserved considering how hard Gilmore has worked ever since he joined the Patriots in 2017. he even earned the Defensive Player of the Year award just earlier this year.
Another thing that should be mentioned is the consistency in the Patriots’ secondary over that same stretch, as safeties Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung have started alongside Gilmore on a regular basis the last three years. During a recent interview, Gilmore spoke about his role with the Patriots and now he has embraced going against the No.1 receiver on the opposing team:
“It is tough every week going against the best guy. [You can’t] have one play that you slack off. I try and focus on each and every play and try not to let my team down. Going in each and every week you know the ball is coming your way, that is the thing you do know because you’re covering the best guy. Sometimes being on another guy you know the ball might not come your way, but you still play hard. When you’re covering the best guy the ball can come to you every single play, so that is the thing that drives me each and every week.”
We can’t wait to see him back on the field with all his new teammates. The next season will be a very important one for the Patriots.
