Asante Samuel is happy to see Tom Brady in Florida. The two players were teammates in the New England Patriots from 2003 to 2007 during which time they established a great bond.
Now that Brady has relocated from New England to Florida because of his new deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Samuel knew that he needed to give Brady a proper welcome to town. During a recent interview, he said that he had a special gift for his former quarterback:
“I got to personally deliver Tom his gold teeth. Now he’s a Florida boy. Being that he’s a Florida boy he needs a gold grill. I’ll be on the way as soon. As they release this stay-home order, Tom I’ll be up there with your gold grill brother.”
This comes shortly after Samuel offered his explanation as to why Brady decided to leave the Patriots after spending twenty seasons playing for them. He said:
“He probably just got tired of it. He probably got tired of some inner-circle things that he wanted. Maybe he wanted receivers and tight ends to stay there with him, and maybe [coach] Bill [Belichick] tried to trade them. Who knows what happened?”
Brady announced earlier this year that he would be leaving the New England Patriots for the first time in his career. Only days later, he signed a new two-year, $50 million guaranteed contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When talking about this change himself, Brady explained:
“Right now, though, I have things to prove to myself. The only way is through. If I don’t go for it, I’ll never know what I could have accomplished. Wanting to do something is different from actually doing it. If I stood at the bottom of a mountain, and told myself I could scale the highest peak, but then didn’t do anything about it, what’s the point of that?”
