Jamie Collins was not a big football fan growing up but when he watched games, he made sure it was the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. Once he became a part of the NFL, Collins played alongside Brady for more than four years. They won two championship titles together.
This offseason, Brady made the decision to leave the Patriots and sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For many, this is a tough pill to swallow, as the case is with Collins. Talking to reporters, he was asked about Brady leaving the Patriots and explained:
“Oh, man. I still don’t believe it. I hope he gets everybody he needs and deserves cause he definitely deserves it.”
Collins and Brady will be rivals when the Detroit Lions host the Buccaneers in the fall. About this game, Collins said:
“It don’t feel real, man. I just can’t wait to see it. I need to see it on Sunday.”
Brady announced his departure from the Patriots a couple of weeks back, shortly before he agreed to a new deal with the Bucs. On his social media accounts, he wrote:
“I couldn’t be the man I am today without the relationships you have allowed me to build with you. I have benefited from all you have given me. I cherished every opportunity I had to be a part of our team, and I love you all for that. Our team has always set a great standard in pro sports and I know it will continue to do just that. Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for out incredible TEAM accomplishments. I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to know each and everyone of you, and to have the memories we’ve created.”
We can’t wait to see these two as rivals.
