Antonio Brown has been teamless for a couple of weeks now and a new contract doesn’t seem to be on its way soon. Even though it’s clear he wants to be back in the league, it’s possible that no one will sign Brown until he settles his off-court drama.
According to Shannon Sharpe, there is one simple thing Brown needs to understand if he wants to play in the league again – he needs to follow NFL rules. He recently told reporters:
“The game will go on without Antonio Brown. He needs to understand that… He thinks he can play by his rules. We’ll see how far that takes him.”
Sharpe went on to say that Brown needs to change if he ever wants to be re-signed in the league:
“It’s been going on for 100 years – Joe Montana, John Elway, Deion Sanders — some of the greats. And, the game still goes on.”
This comes shortly after Brown went live on Instagram and told his followers to encourage the Patriots to give him a call since “the Patriots have to pay me,” he said so “they may as well play me.”
Ever since all the allegations against Brown were made, no one has really expressed interested in welcoming him on board. Even his exit from New England was quite unpleasant, with him calling out owner Robert Kraft as he referenced the sexual solicitation allegations that were leveled against the owner. He said:
“Will not be playing in the NFL anymore these owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at anytime we will see if the NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up!… Kraft got caught in the parlor AB speculations fired different strokes folks clearly.”
It’s a long shot to think that Brown will play in the league again any time soon!
