Chase Winovich Motivated by a $5 Bill And A Chocolate Bar

New England Patriots rookie defensive end Chase Winovich is one of those players who don’t take a lot to get excited. Just give him a $5 bill and a chocolate bar and he will be ready to go!

Winovich was amazing in the team’s first two preseason games. Last night, when the Patriots took on the Tennessee Titans, Winovich once again displayed his “high motor” and determination. He recorded five tackles, a sack, two tackles for a loss and two QB hits.

Usually, rookies take longer to get used to the big NFL stage but Winovich seems born to do it. He is the kind of player who is not going to give up on any play. When he talked about what gets him going, Winovich said:

“Ever since high school my grandmother has been promising me if I played hard and didn’t get hurt she’s been promising me $5 and a chocolate bar, either Hershey’s or Sarris Candies. So today was just another day where I went out there and said, ‘I gotta play hard.  I need that $5 and I need the candy.”

The young rookie is a player that is going to bring it off the edge on every play. He also said that he is going to continue bringing his best in the upcoming games:

“It’s weird, I don’t know why I’m built like that.  It might be a gift and a curse. Sometimes when it’s extremely hot and they are just trying to run the ball away, I see the guy and in my head there is a little part of me that’s like, ‘you know what, you are probably not going to make this play, maybe this time save it for the next one when it comes to you.’ But you’ll see me just sprinting and trying to hit somebody or hit something.”

We can’t wait to see Winovich next week when the Patriots took on the Carolina Panthers.
