Forbes has finally revealed their list of highest-paid athletes of 2019 and guess who is on it yet again.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is the basketball player who earned the most money last year, with $89 million. He made $53 million from his endorsement deals and other businesses outside of basketball. When it comes to the NBA, other players who earned a spot on the list are Stephen Curry with $79.8 million and Kevin Durant with $65.4 million.
Among the top 10 American athletes is NFL star Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers is another NFL star who made the list. Rodgers comes in as the second highest ranked NFL player, making just $200,000 less than Wilson, and third on the list is Ben Roethlisberger with $55.5 million.
From tennis players, the list includes Tiger Woods and Serena Williams. Baseball player Mike Trout who made $50.6 million, with only $3 million of that figure coming from ventures outside his MLB contract, is the first ever baseball player to earn a spot on this list.
A couple of months back, LeBron James opened about how he raises his children who have been around money their whole lives. Coming from the projects, James knows about the importance of teaching his kid to appreciate the money:
“They will never understand that there’s a bottom and that’s the challenge … that I have to juggle with: How do I raise my kids knowing that they will never feel or understand what their father went through?”
He also said:
“You just give them life goals, you give them challenges — and at the end of the day, they’re going to have to walk their own path, just like we did.” He added that “no matter if you came from the top of the top or you came from the bottom of the bottom, you still have a road to travel.”
Feel free to take parenting advice from LeBron James, he seems to know what he is talking about!
