In this year’s NBA Finals, two-time raging champions Golden State Warriors are playing against the Toronto Raptors. Last night we saw the Raptors claim their first win, dominating the court during the entire game. After the game, Warriors fans were left wondering – is Kevin Durant’s absence going to cause the team this year’s championship win?
Durant has been sidelined for a while now due to a calf injury he suffered in the NBA Western Conference semifinal series with the Houston Rockets. He didn’t play against the Portland Trail Blazers and there were those who felt he would have healed up in time for the 2019 NBA Finals. But the injury seems to be more serious than anticipated and there is no telling when exactly will Durant be able to return to the court.
Prior to last night’s game, the Warriors seemed well off with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green stepping up in his absence. But since this is the Raptors’ first appearance in the finals, they brought their A-game and maybe even a bit more. Curry couldn’t carry the team on his own, having little to no help from his teammates. The only one who at least tried to play was Thompson, who put up 21 points and 5 rebounds. On the other hand, Green had a triple-double performance with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
After seeing such a bad performance of the Warriors’ part, retired NBA star and TV commentator Charles Barkley has sided with the Raptors. After sharing his thoughts, he went on to say that he feels that Durant may not be playing at all for the Warriors in the series at all. Take a look:
Barkley has been in the game long enough to know what he is talking about. When it comes to Durant, we think that he is right and that we won’t be seeing the superstar on the court for the rest of the season.
