Zion Williamson is the type of athlete that could play just about any sport out there. While his focus seems to be on basketball, his body type hints at him being an amazing football player. It looks like New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has taken note of that.
Just yesterday, the New Orleans Pelicans landed the top spot in the NBA Draft Lottery. But it looks like another New Orleans-based team will make the first proposal to Williamson. Take a look:
Just a couple of months back Zion announced that he will be entering the NBA Draft after spending only one year playing college basketball at Duke. He explained:
“Thank you for making this year the best year of my life. I don’t think I can put into words how special this year was. Everything about this team was special. Learning from Coach K was special. He taught me so much about the game of basketball in one year, it made me sit back and go ‘Wow, I didn’t know anything.’”
Williamson had an amazing year at Duke, winning both Atlantic Coast Conference and national player of the year honors after averaging 22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. He also helped his team win the ACC tournament title and advanced to the Elite Eight. On his resume, he also has the Wooden Award, the Naismith Award and was named player of the year by the Associated Press and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
The 6-foot-7, 285-pound Spartanburg, South Carolina native has a reputation of being a vicious, mesmerizing dunker while showing off the other parts of his game. As he is expected to be the first overall pick this year, it looks like the Pelicans will be the lucky team to get Williamson on their team. We will have to wait for the 2019 NBA Draft to confirm our suspicions!
