The New England Patriots finished off the regular season with amazing back-to-back wins. They were able to defeat both the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets. The first win brought them their 10th consecutive AFC East division title. The second win brought them their first-round bye week. Overall, it’s been a good time for the Patriots.
After spending the bye-week working on their gameplay, the Patriots finally found out who they will go up against this week. It’s the Los Angeles Chargers, who managed to defeat the Baltimore Ravens.
The Patriots revealed earlier this week that they don’t have any players missing practice due to injuries or sickness. Only second-year defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. and veteran tight end Dwayne Allen are recovering from previous injuries and were limited in practice this week. The Patriots have welcomed back Cordarelle Patterson, who missed the season finale against the Jets after suffering a knee injury.
During the game against the Jets, captain Devin McCourty suffered a nasty hit and was afterward diagnosed with a concussion. But reports have revealed that he is feeling better and will be back for this week’s game against the Chargers. He will be very beneficial for the Patriots this week because only he has the skills to mitigate the potential damage Philip Rivers and company can do through the air.
When it comes to the Chargers, we will see safety Jahleeel Addae and tackle Sam Tevi back on the field. They have been dealing with shoulder and groin injuries, respectively. Also, the team will welcome back tight end Hunter Henry, who tore his ACL way back in May of last year during OTAs.
This is going to be a very interesting game. The Patriots spent the whole regular season undefeated at home, while the Chargers won all their road games. Now, they will travel to Gillette Stadium where they will be welcomed by the Patriots.
